SeaCity Museum

About SeaCity Museum

SeaCity Museum, located in the heart of Southampton, Hampshire, is a modern and engaging attraction dedicated to the city’s rich maritime history. Housed in the former Magistrates’ Court building, the museum offers visitors a captivating journey through Southampton’s seafaring past and its connection to the ill-fated RMS Titanic.

The museum’s main features include three permanent exhibitions: “Southampton’s Titanic Story,” “Gateway to the World,” and “Southampton Stories.” The Titanic exhibition is particularly notable, featuring a 1:25 scale interactive model of the ship and personal accounts from survivors. Visitors can also experience what it was like to be on the bridge of the Titanic through an immersive audio-visual show.

One of the museum’s unique experiences is the “Disaster Room,” where visitors can relive the events of April 14-15, 1912, through a dramatic audio-visual presentation. The museum also houses original artifacts from the Titanic and other important vessels in Southampton’s history.

SeaCity Museum offers several family-friendly activities, including interactive displays, hands-on exhibits, and a dedicated learning space for children. Special events and temporary exhibitions are held throughout the year, often coinciding with important dates in maritime history or school holidays.

Visitor amenities include a gift shop, café, and accessible facilities. The museum is well-equipped to accommodate visitors with disabilities, offering wheelchair access and audio guides. Advance booking is recommended, especially during peak seasons and for guided tours.
