About Things to do in Hampshire

Hi! I’m Nick

I’m the founder of Things to Do in Hampshire and a local Hampshire resident.

My mission is simple: To show the best that Hampshire has to offer – there’s plenty to do, see, eat and explore!

I was born in Hampshire and have lived here for most of my life.

I’ve spent years discovering the best activities and events around the county to prove that this isn’t a place where fun goes to die!

I’m passionate about travel for enjoyment, adventure, delicious food, and culture. So that’s our priority here. We’ll explore some touristy areas that are genuinely worth your time – like the New Forest – and some hidden gems you’ve likely never heard of – like The Pottery Café in Fareham.

My Favourite things to do in Hampshire

Southampton Boat Show

Southampton Boat Show

The Southampton Boat Show is a must-visit event for nautical enthusiasts and landlubbers alike, showcasing the latest in marine technology and leisure craft.

You’ll find everything from luxury yachts to paddleboards, with plenty of opportunities to climb aboard and imagine yourself sailing off into the sunset.

Whether you’re in the market for a new boat or just fancy a day out by the water, this annual extravaganza offers a brilliant day out for the whole family.

Winchester Christmas Market

Fancy a festive day out? Pop over to Winchester Christmas Market, where you’ll find charming wooden chalets brimming with unique gifts and mouth-watering treats.

Set against the backdrop of the stunning Winchester Cathedral, this magical market is perfect for getting into the holiday spirit and enjoying a warm mulled wine whilst browsing handcrafted goodies.

Alresford Watercress Festival

The Alresford Watercress Festival is a cracking day out for foodies and families alike, celebrating the town’s heritage as the UK’s watercress capital.

Held annually in May, this free event features cooking demonstrations, a street market with local produce, and even a watercress eating competition for the brave.

You’ll find plenty of tasty treats to sample, live music to enjoy, and fun activities for the little ones, making it a brilliant way to kick off the summer season in Hampshire.

Car Fest South

Car Fest South is a cracking weekend of motoring madness that takes place each summer in Hampshire.

It’s a proper family-friendly affair, with loads of cool cars on display, live music, and heaps of activities for petrolheads of all ages.

Whether you’re into classic motors or cutting-edge supercars, there’s something for everyone at this revved-up extravaganza.

Exploring Hampshire

Born in Portsmouth. My fondest childhood memories were of family day trips to Hampshire’s picturesque villages and rolling hills.

We’d explore the New Forest, marveling at wild ponies, or visit Jane Austen’s house in Chawton, imagining life in a bygone era. As an adult, the decision to move to Fleet in North Hampshire was an easy one. The area offers the perfect blend of rural charm and modern amenities, with London just a short train ride away.

Unlike Portsmouth’s seaside hustle, Hampshire’s gentle pace allows for peaceful weekend walks along the Basingstoke Canal or thrilling mountain biking in Swinley Forest.

Hampshire isn’t just where I live; it’s where my heart truly belongs.

How “Things to do in Hampshire” Started

“Things to Do in Hampshire” emerged from a personal frustration with the lack of comprehensive and up-to-date information about local events and activities. Dissatisfied with existing resources, I set out to develop a platform that would provide accurate, diverse, and engaging content about the best experiences Hampshire has to offer.

My Goals

  • Continuously update and expand the database of activities and events in Hampshire
  • Foster partnerships with local businesses and organisations to offer exclusive experiences and deals
  • Share my experiences of the activities and experiences featured on the site

My experience

Write a paragraph in conversational tone about my experience with travel. I have lived in the UK and Italy and travelled to almost 50 countries. This paragraph is part of the about us for a blog about things to do in hampshire.

I’m a bit of a globetrotter, having called both the UK and Italy home at different points in my life. And let me tell you, I’ve got the travel bug bad! I’ve been lucky enough to explore nearly 50 countries, soaking up different cultures, cuisines, and experiences along the way.

But you know what? There’s something special about coming back to Hampshire. Maybe it’s the rolling hills, the charming villages, or the fact that there’s always something new to discover right in my backyard.
